1. Project
Overview
The project Canh
Buom: Developing a Global Vietnamese Language Foundation is a comprehensive
initiative by Nhà Việt Institute in Massachusetts, USA. It aims to promote and
develop the Vietnamese language internationally over a five-year period. This non-for-profit
project goes beyond language instruction, emphasizing historical, cultural, and
linguistic connections between Vietnam and the broader East Asian region. The
initiative seeks to establish a strong Vietnamese linguistic and cultural
ecosystem outside of Vietnam.
This
non-political project is built entirely on the collaboration of the
Vietnamese-speaking communities, experts, and philanthropists. Therefore, it
does not accept funding from governments or political organizations.
A Message
from Dr. Son T. H. Pham, Boston, USA:
"Vietnamese is not just a language; it is the soul of those with Vietnamese blood, a thread connecting millions of Vietnamese hearts worldwide. From the sweet lullabies of mothers, the rustic folk songs, to the timeless literary works, Vietnamese carries an entire culture, a history, and a boundless love.
Education and language transcend political or religious boundaries because they belong to humanity, to connection and understanding. When a Vietnamese child grows up abroad without mastering their mother tongue, it is not just a personal loss but a rupture in our cultural heritage. We cannot let that happen.
The demand
for learning Vietnamese outside of Vietnam has never been greater. The younger
generations born and raised abroad need a high-quality, structured, and
engaging Vietnamese education, not just to speak, but to feel, to understand,
and to take pride in their roots.
The Canh
Buom Project was born from this aspiration, a global community where those who
love Vietnamese join hands to spread this sacred language. Whether you are a
parent wanting your child to maintain their mother tongue, a dedicated teacher,
or simply a lover of the Vietnamese language, we need you!”
